At a press conference on Friday, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a national design competition to restore and reconstruct 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of Canada's prime minister. The competition will invite eligible Canadian architects and builders to submit proposals, with the winning design expected to be selected by Canada Day next year. Carney also announced a national fundraising campaign, led by the Rideau Hall Foundation, to help offset renovation costs. The government says donor names will be made public, contribution limits will be in place, and corporate donations will not be accepted.
