It has only been 3 years since James Gunn took over DC Universe and moved away from the world created by Zack Snyder. While Gunn had already shaken things up quite a bit with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, it was last year’s Superman that proved that we are going in a wholly new direction. Snyder’s movies divided critics but had a strong fanbase; even the fact that these fans managed to get the Snyder Cut released is strong evidence of that. Now, the major entry to the franchise, something even the previous ones didn’t manage to establish, is out in the form of a Supergirl movie. But the movie faced significant controversy from the day the first teaser dropped, and that controversy continued through its release. Let’s see if this actually stirs things up a bit for James Gunn’s plans for the DC universe.
