On Saturday, Venezuela’s government announced that the death toll had risen to 1,430, according to the Associated Press. Thousands of people were injured, and tens of thousands are still missing. The death toll is expected to climb. Venezuelans looking for loved ones and neighbors used shovels, heavy equipment, ropes and bare hands atop mounds of toppled concrete, the AP reports.
