UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced reforms to the nation's asylum system in an effort to restore public confidence. The scheme is being framed as a community sponsorship scheme where organisations can pitch to sponsor someone to come over to the UK. The numbers will be capped and small to begin with, but then will go up and increase over time.
