Sky News host James Macpherson criticises a Victorian maternity program, arguing healthcare should be based on medical need rather than identity. “A Victorian health program that gives expectant Aboriginal families something most Australians can only dream about, their own personal midwife,” Mr Macpherson said. “Most non-Indigenous women in the public system don't get that luxury. They see a revolving cast of doctors and midwives, like a hospital version of speed dating. “This is where identity politics drives me nuts. You've got people being selected for special medical care, not because they need it. But because they tick an identity box.”
