Double murder-suicide investigation underway in Ottawa after 2 children, father found dead

Ottawa police are investigating a suspected double homicide-suicide after two young boys were found dead in a south Ottawa home on Monday and their father was found dead in a vehicle fire in eastern Ontario. In an update from the Ottawa Police Service on Monday afternoon, Supt. Jamie Dunlop said officers were called to a residence on Mandevilla Crescent at about 10 a.m. after receiving a request for a wellness check. There, officers found two boys, aged seven and 12, dead. Supt. Dunlop said, “at this moment, [the father killing the children] is the speculation,” adding they believed the children were killed based on “the trauma” and “from the evidence found within the house.” “The father did not have great contacts with the police, there were certainly – as many people do [have] – some dealings,” Dunlop added.
