Demonstrators marched through the streets of Vancouver, B.C., on Saturday, opposing the federal government’s plan to build two new AI data centres in B.C. and expand a third. Protesters are convinced the huge facilities would have a negative impact on the environment, despite the province’s reassurances that protections are in place. Data centres require large amounts of energy and resources to operate, on top of their initial construction impacts and knock-on effects to local economies.
