Canadian Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne held a press conference Tuesday to support Jasper National Park amid wildfire season. He was joined by Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience Eleanor Olszewski, Mayor Richard Ireland, and Andrew Campbell, Interim President and CEO of Parks Canada. "The Government of Canada will be providing $520 million in additional funding to accelerate the rebuilding of Jasper National Park," Champagne said, "Now there will always be natural disasters. And there will always be a level of preparedness that we need to adopt. But we're gonna learn from that and what you should see in the announcement today is that we're putting significant dollars behind innovation practices and what we call advanced fire risk mitigation techniques to make sure that we prevent to the large extent possible what we have seen here," he added.
