Former Liberal MP Nicolle Flint says Australia needs to “toughen up” on English language entry point requirements for migrants. ”We need to have really tough rules when we let people into the country, rather than retrospectively try to fix their lack of English language skills,” Ms Flint told Sky News host James Morrow. “We are letting people in without the standards that we used to apply to make sure that they would be successful, integrated Australian citizens who shared our values and shared our language. “I don’t think it is really necessary to pick on translation services; I think we need to toughen up our entry point requirements.”
