Former Army director-general Brigadier Ian Langford says defence has spent too long bogged down in bureaucracy instead of delivering the military capabilities Australia urgently needs. “I think the admission from the minister today that the defence acquisition system is in need of reform is a significant announcement,” Mr Langford told Sky News host Jaimee Rogers. “I think by his own admission, for too long defence has been focused on the requirements and the submission-setting phase of the equipment delivery cycle, and there hasn’t been enough focus on delivery and outcomes.”
