Originally labelled as Canada’s GST/HST credit, it’s now called the Groceries and Essentials Benefit. A different name, but essentially the same thing, except the payments for the next five years are 25 per cent higher. The benefits will vary depending on a person's situation and will be based on income. Global’s Jacqueline Hansen has more.
