Nearly two weeks after announcing his resignation as U.K. prime minister, Keir Starmer has opened up about his decision. “It was tough. I'm not going to pretend otherwise, really, really tough, as I grappled with what was the best thing to do for me, for the country, for the government,” Starmer said in a BBC interview. Starmer, 63, said he made, what he calls, the “intensely personal decision,” during a family vacation at Chequers – the prime minister’s countryside home in Buckinghamshire, England. The decision was made official on June 22 after Starmer struggled with economic promises and facing increasing criticism for appointing scandal-linked figures. Starmer assumed office on July 5, 2024 after winning a landslide election victory. His successor will mark the U.K.’s sixth prime minister in only seven years. Nominations for that role start on July 9. For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Follow Globa
