Preparing for routine hernia surgery, pre-operative testing revealed he had previously experienced a cardiac arrest and severe blocked arteries. Doctors say many people assume they're healthy because they feel fine, but underlying heart disease can go unnoticed. They are encouraging Canadians to know key risk factors, including blood pressure, smoking status and diabetes, and to seek proper screening before symptoms become severe.
