One of the most iconic protagonist entry scenes of all time has to be the introduction of Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi in Desperado. A mysterious Mexican gunslinger, shoulder-length hair, always walking in the shadows, looking for a man named Bucho to settle his score. That entry scene sets the tone for the entire film, preparing us for a revenge ballad of epic proportions. The story behind Desperado is very inspiring. Robert Rodriguez, a young filmmaker then, made El Mariachi for a really low budget and screened it at the Sundance Film Festival. It attracted so much attention that Rodriguez got the chance to move into bigger Hollywood follow-ups, eventually turning the story into a trilogy.
