On September 11, 2001, a group of 19 men hijacked four airplanes. Two planes were crashed into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City, and one was crashed into the Pentagon just outside of Washington, DC. The other crashed in an empty field in Pennsylvania. 2,977 people died that day, from over 90 nations, including 441 first responders who answered the call to help.   Today, we are going to discuss the events of that day and some of the reasons why they happened in the first place. We also want to honor the bravery of the first responders and others who jumped into action to help save others, some losing their own lives in the process.   Here is a little bit of background before we get started. The 19 men directly responsible for this attack were a part of an Islamist extremist terrorist network called al-Qaeda, which was founded by a man named Osama bin Laden.
