It was not just another vampire story, nor was it just another fantasy series. Buffy became one of those rare shows that genuinely changed how people looked at television storytelling altogether. The series originally ran from 1997 to 2003 across seven seasons and 144 episodes on The WB and later UPN. It was created by Joss Whedon and was based on the 1992 movie of the same name.
