Former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane believes the Iranian regime won’t willingly give up the Strait of Hormuz as it gives it “geopolitical influence”. “They believe they have bent the United States to their will, and they look at the Straits of Hormuz as comparable to a nuclear weapon,” Mr Keane told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “It gives them geopolitical influence in the region and leverage over the countries in the region in terms of political blackmail. “They are not going to give this up willingly; we will have to fight them for it.”
