For years, there was a persistent misconception among film-goers that superhero films are only for kids. The genre had its origin as children’s films or family entertainers, but from the late ’80s and the ‘90s, superhero movies began including dark subject matters and violent scenes. Still, these examples were very few. Since the movies required a lot of budget to make, the studio wanted a PG-13 rating to get back their money and be on the safe side. However, things changed considerably with the unexpected success of Deadpool and Logan in two consecutive years. Both were R- rated ventures but became huge hits around the globe.
