Sky News Defence Analyst Peter Jennings argues US President Donald Trump has little room to compromise, warning the United States cannot accept an outcome that leaves Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz. “It’s hard to imagine that you can have negotiations continuing when one side is out to kill the political leadership of the United States,” Mr Jennings told Sky News host James Morrow. “I don’t think that 14-point memorandum of understanding was ever going to be a successful policy document. “What happens next? He has the opportunity, I think, to ramp up military strikes, which appears to be what he’s doing, but they’re still very limited compared to what we were seeing in March. “I think the president’s kind of stuck. He cannot have an outcome which leaves Iran in control of the Strait of Hormuz.”
