US President Donald Trump has reinstated America's blockade of Iranian shipping in the Gulf. Mr Trump claims the Strait is open regardless of the message coming from Tehran. Posting on Truth Social, he says, “The Hormuz Strait is open, and will remain open, with or without Iran. We are reinstating the Iranian blockade, so named because it is only stopping Iran's ships or customers from entering or leaving.” He is also seeking to charge a 20 per cent toll on cargo passing through the waterway.
