Police believe the two people killed during the Salsa in Toronto street festival on St. Clair Ave, on Saturday night were "targeted" and known to each other, Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw told reporters during a Monday update. Demkiw said there were three shootings in total in the city over the weekend, revealing they are investigating whether they have any connection to the events at the salsa festival. More than a day after gunfire ripped through the midtown street festival — sending an estimated 13,000 attendees running for shelter and injuring four others — police say they’ve made no arrests and have no suspect information. Two firearms, however, have been recovered from the scene. Police initially feared the scene was an active shooter, but concluded it was simply “an exchange of gunfire” in the middle of the crowd by two people “targeting each other.” The two deceased victims have been identified.
