The head of British counterterrorism policing said Tuesday that the murder of former minister and TV personality Ann Widdecombe was a “targeted attack” and that police were still working to determine a motive. Widdecombe, 78, who was a prominent member of Nigel Farage’s populist Reform UK party, was found dead at her home in rural southwest England on Thursday with what investigators described as “serious injuries.” Local police arrested a British man on suspicion of murder Saturday. He has since been rearrested by counterterrorism officers on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of a terrorist act.
