‘Needs to be addressed’: Higher rates of mental illness 'overlapping' with political violence

Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue believes there is a “greater preponderance” of mental illness “overlapping” with political violence. ​“I think what I’ve noticed…is that while there are hate figures, of course, on both the left and right, there seems to be a greater preponderance of mental illness as well,” Ms Krakue told Sky News host Chris Kenny. ​“That seems to overlap with hateful figures on the left that think any means is justified to try and get rid of their political opponents. ​“I don’t think you just see that level of mental illness on the right or right-wing hate figures in the same way. ​“I think that needs to be addressed. ​“I don’t think it’s necessarily a coincidence that people who hold the kind of extreme views that they do, with regard to thinking that anyone who has a differing view is basically some form of Nazi. ​“I don’t think it’s surprising that they think that they’re then justified in killing what they would see as a Nazi. ​”There are right-wing hat
