‘Own goal’: Trump’s tragic Iran negotiations criticised

The Australian Columnist Tom Switzer says the Trump administration’s negotiations with Iran have been an “own goal”. “I think the underlying problem here is that the problem that Trump is trying to fix, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which…accounts for 20 per cent of global oil, gas, and fertilisers, that problem did not exist before February 28,” Mr Switzer told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Before February 28, when the US and Israel conducted their strikes on Iran, there was freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. “Since February 28, the Iranians have used their strategic coercive leverage to essentially shut it down or at least try to control it. “That’s an own goal on the part of the Trump administration.”
