Nasadiya Sukta of the Rig Veda (Hymn of Creation)

The Nasadiya Sukta from the Rig Veda is often referred to as the Hymn of Creation. It is however more than that, as it expounds a complex yet ancient philosophy of Cosmic Existentialism that transcends the nominal (and later) categories of monotheism, pantheism, etc. It is often said that Vedic India produced no great building or physical monuments, yet, in the Nasadiya Sukta and its sister hymns, Vedic Indians expressed something far greater, evoking the perennial human quest, the yearning to know the unknown, that speaks to us today, as it did to the ancients, and as it will to every generation of humankind yet to emerge. In this video, I use images from NASA's Hubble Telescope, alongside the adaptation of the Nasadiya Sukta from the docuhistory series Discovery of India (Bharat Ek Khoj) created by Shyam Benegal, based on The Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru.
