Jist reporter Medha visits the Neemuch-Mhow highway in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, to uncover the hidden reality behind the roadside deras run by the Banchhada community. These temporary setups, often presented as family traditions or simple roadside stops, are increasingly becoming centers for organized sex work and human trafficking. While many women from the Banchhada community are part of this intergenerational practice, ground findings reveal a darker side: trafficked girls from other states are being brought in, given fake Banchhada identities, and forced into prostitution. The isolated highway locations provide easy access for transient clients (especially truck drivers) while shielding these operations from authorities. This is no longer just a community custom, it is a serious case of organized trafficking and exploitation that requires immediate attention, stronger enforcement, victim rehabilitation, and alternative livelihood support. Stay tuned for more ground reports fr
