After news of a 72-hour strike notice from WestJet flight attendants, Canadian Job Minister Patty Hajdu was asked Friday if the government would introduce mandatory back-to-work legislation in a potential strike – as they did with Air Canada in 2025. Though Hajdu gave no direct answer, she said the negotiations between WestJet and the CUPE union is “important work,” before noting a “specialist” federal mediator is present with the parties to help “work through challenging questions.” #WestJet #GovernmentofCanada #CUPE
