Over the past decade, Canada has absorbed more than 100,000 Syrian refugees. They fled a deadly and destructive civil war, but after the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in 2024, many have decided to return home and rebuild. The destruction they're faced with in their homeland is immense, and the World Bank estimates Syria needs nearly a quarter-of-a-trillion dollars to recover.
