So, as we all know, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films are critically acclaimed- and, more than that, they’re considered pretty faithful, which isn’t always the case with book adaptations. Is it earned, though? More or less, yes, but faithful rarely means identical. Which basically means that, across Part One and Part Two, entire characters lose their book roles or vanish outright, time jumps get deleted, and one of the novel’s most controversial endings is rewritten to turn a main character into a fundamentally different person.
