A state of emergency remains in effect in St. Catharines, Ont., after back-to-back storms caused widespread flooding across the city. Joining Global News, Mayor Mat Siscoe says Ontario volunteer crews are arriving to help residents with cleanup, but more provincial and federal support is urgently needed. He says demand for flood mitigation assistance has surged from a few dozen applications each year to more than 1,500. Mat Siscoe warns municipalities cannot afford the growing cost of increasingly frequent extreme weather events without long-term infrastructure funding.
