In Washington state, thousands of people remain evacuated from their homes as wildfires continue to threaten the city of Spokane. Hundreds of homes and businesses have already been lost, and work is underway to try to protect the devastated community from more loss. “They warned us how bad winds were going to be, how bad the fire risk was going to be... for someone to be intentionally lighting fires in my mind there was only one intent,” an evacuee named Brandon Clark said.
