I don’t think anyone can deny that X-Men 97 is one of the finest superhero animated shows ever created. If Season 1 set the bar high, Season 2 has lived up to the expectations of the fans, and so far, I haven’t had many opportunities to complain. However, the penultimate episode of Season 2, The Dead Man’s Hand, probably falls short of the excellence that I have grown to expect. It’s not like the story is unexpected because Gambit has been set up as the Horseman of Death for a while now, but there is something missing in this episode that I cannot put my finger on.
