Abdul El-Sayed called on Democrats to unite around his campaign as it pivots to the general election following his victory over Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in the Democratic race for Michigan's U.S. Senate seat. "As bitter and as divisive and as cynical as the campaign against us might have been, I want us to realize that there is so much more that unites us now," he said at a press conference in Detroit. Mr. El-Sayed said the general election campaign against his Republican opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers, would prove even more divisive, noting attack ads that have already been running in the state. "You know, they think they want to use my whole name against me," he said.
