Nova Scotia Justice Minister and Attorney General Scott Armstrong is looking into the wrongful conviction of Brandon Klayme, who spent 18 months in prison after being convicted of three child pornography-related offences. The case stemmed from a username mix-up during an investigation that ultimately led police to the wrong person. Klayme was acquitted of all charges on July 23 and his sentence was vacated. “I have some pretty intense concerns about how this went down,” Armstrong said, adding that wrongful convictions can shake public trust in the justice system.
