A condominium designed and developed by women for women has opened in Etobicoke. Every part of the development was led by women, and it includes amenities and features meant especially for women living in the building. The idea for the condominium, Reina, came after Taya Cook, an executive with developer Urban Capital, read an article about Toronto's “kings” of condos. Cook recognized a need to showcase the “queens,” and set out to create the city’s first all-female development team. As Caryn Lieberman reports, that team's Reina project includes a girl guides inspired “snack shack,” a glass-walled playroom next to a gym so parents can keep an eye on their children, and a vast courtyard with space for families to gather.
