Trump signs order to overhaul childhood vaccine schedule

President Trump signed an executive order Monday to overhaul the childhood vaccine schedule by changing recommendations and seeking to space out some vaccines across separate medical visits. "This updated recommendation finally aligns the United States with other advanced and developed nations around the world," the president said in the Oval Office. "More importantly, it aligns us with common sense and knowledge." Under the new guidance, vaccines against 11 diseases — including measles, mumps, rubella, polio and whooping cough — would be recommended for all children. Vaccines against several other diseases — including hepatitis A and B and meningococcal disease — would be recommended for certain high-risk groups or through shared decision-making between parents and health care providers.
