Emergency officials across multiple government departments provided an update at 11:00 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET) Tuesday regarding the ongoing wildfires burning across the province from the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in Victoria, B.C. The update was attended by Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Kelly Greene, Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar and Cliff Chapman of the BC Wildfire Service, among others. "As of this morning, there are over 101 active fires across B.C., with three additional starts in the last 24 hours, while also 58 that have been declared out in the last seven days in total. This wildfire season, as of this morning, we have 904 wildfires impacting 390,000 hectares burned," Parmar said. More than 20,000 people are currently under an evacuation order with no timeline to return to their homes, and work crews continue to repair critical infrastructure.
