Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative MP for Calgary Nose Hill, spoke in Ottawa Tuesday about what she called the “insane and disgusting" lenient sentences being given to non-citizens committing violent crimes in Canada. Garner claimed the “two-tier justice system” left criminal Canadians with harsher sentences than non-citizens, even when committing the same crimes. The MP noted the “stark anti-Canadian reality,” showcased in an exclusive Global News report last week, which showed that India’s notorious Bishnoi gang is expanding its network into Canada. Since 2023, the Bishnoi gang has targeted South Asian Canadians in B.C., Alberta and Ontario, populations, making exorbitant demands for extortion payments and following up with threats, shootings and arsons.
