Spokesperson for Affordable Energy Australia Zoe Hilton has dismissed the possibility of offshore wind in Australia as it’s “one of the most expensive” options for renewable energy. “Offshore wind is super, super, super expensive, it is one of the most expensive ways to make electricity known to mankind,” Ms Hilton told News24 host Chris Kenny. “When we look at places like the UK and Denmark, countries that have offshore wind, they’re having to strike these contracts for different deals, these subsidy deals for $170 or $180 per megawatt hour. “In Australia we’re going to be looking at over $200 per every megawatt hour or thereabouts for offshore wind.”
