Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the former House speaker, said Tuesday she wants Democrats to pick up 30 seats in the November midterms, characterizing the election as a referendum on President Trump. "My role right now is to make sure we win, and that we win big in November," she said at a forum hosted by Politico in Sacramento, California. Rep. Pelosi said the Framers designed the House to have members elected every two years to provide a quick referendum on the president. "And that's what we have right now, a referendum on whatever's happening in the White House right now. And that's why we have to win big," she said.
