US President Donald Trump has confirmed White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post. She has been the only press secretary during the second Trump term, absent only briefly from April to July this year as she went on maternity leave. The 28-year-old, who employed a controversial and sometimes combative communication style with the press pack, has been celebrated by the President on social media. “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family,” he said in a post on Truth Social. “A decision I totally understand and respect. Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy history, and conclusively win the midterm elections.”
