SMH Chief Political Correspondent Paul Sakkal reveals an unlikely Senate alliance is forcing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to confront the diplomatic fallout from his crude ‘melons’ remarks by demanding the correspondence with Japan. “The government has a track record of being pretty recalcitrant when it comes to these orders to produce documents,” Mr Sakkal told News24 host Sharri Markson. “It’s obviously a point of sensitivity for the prime minister; he’s found all different kinds of ways this week to avoid questions. “The Prime Minister, who is as wiry as they come in relation to parliamentary procedures. “He doesn’t want to talk about it.”
