Hundreds of pages of court records connected to the Tumbler Ridge school shooting investigation have been released. The records identify Jesse Van Rootselaar as the lone attacker and include a police report stating the shooter had mental health problems and a fascination with firearms. Investigators reviewed CCTV video, police body camera footage, electronics and online activity as they worked to understand what happened inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. But despite the release of hundreds of pages, many witness statements, digital records and other investigative details remain heavily redacted. RCMP say those redactions are necessary to protect public safety and prevent copycat violence. With no criminal trial, inquest or public inquiry in sight, many questions about what investigators learned and why so much of the evidence remains secret remain unanswered. Rumina Daya reports.
