Strong 7.7 magnitude earthquake strikes Indonesia

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake has struck off Indonesia’s coast. The initial quake was followed by several aftershocks, including a magnitude 5.9 tremor 15 minutes later. The German Research Centre for Geosciences recorded the quakes at a depth of about 30 kilometres, with tsunami warnings issued for parts of Indonesia.
