Hawaii Gov. Josh Green and other local officials gave an update Friday on preparations for Tropical Storm Lala, which is expected to become a Category 1 hurricane before nearing the Big Island this weekend. Damaging winds, heavy rain, flash flooding, and mudslides are possible across the state in the coming days. Green declared a State of Emergency on Thursday ahead of the storm, warning that Lala poses a "serious threat to our state."
