Mitch McConnell has reportedly been away from the Senate for weeks on paid medical leave, and Snopes found that his long record of voting against paid sick leave is mostly true. From opposing the Family and Medical Leave Act to voting against paid sick days for rail workers, McConnell spent decades resisting the same kind of workplace protection now insulating him from the consequences ordinary workers face every day. No one should celebrate an 84-year-old recovering from a serious fall, but the hypocrisy of a senator collecting full pay while Kentucky loses representation is impossible to ignore.
