We all know that Marvel has owned the box office pretty much since Iron Man kicked off in 2008, and honestly, arguing otherwise at this point is a losing battle. But there's one corner of the genre where DC has never stopped winning. Yup, I am talking about the world of animation. Go all the way back to 1993's Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, a film so good it's still regularly ranked as one of the best Batman stories ever put to screen, and trace that line forward through two decades of genuinely great direct-to-video work, all the way to something like Justice League: Doom in 2012 and Flashpoint Paradox of 2013, and you'll find a stretch of quality that Marvel simply has never bothered competing with. DC's animated arm has been quietly adapting some of the densest, darkest comic runs in the medium, stuff too violent or too weird for a PG-13 tentpole, and getting away with it because nobody's watching as closely. #BatmanKnightfall #Knightfall #KnightfallPart1 #DCComics #batmancomics
