The Australian columnist Tom Switzer believes the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is “more formidable” now than ever before. “This means that Iranian tankers are just not getting through, and to the extent that continues, that is surely going to hurt the revenue stream going back to Tehran,” Mr Switzer told News24 host Chris Kenny. “The regime feels it’s facing an existential threat…and I think that they will only be more likely in a desperate situation to use their ballistic missiles to torment the Sunni Gulf allies across the Persian Gulf, but also play hardball in the Strait of Hormuz and stop oil go through via American means.”
