Canadian soldiers have fought and died alongside Americans in five major conflicts spanning decades, yet the Trump administration continues to insult Canada’s military. Now, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is mocking Canadian cadets, as his own army secretary resigns following months of friction. On Monday, Hegseth, a former Fox News personality, posted a photo from the Cadet Training Centre in Vernon, B.C. showing two young women in uniform with the caption “This is real.” Canadian leaders are speaking out, with Prime Minister Mark Carney saying the message was “beneath their office.” B.C. Premier David Eby said, "It tells you everything you need to know about the amateur hour, distracted, bizarre leadership that Americans are being subjected to right now.” As Touria Izri reports, the former Deputy Commander of NORAD says the best way for Canadians to respond, is to not respond at all.
