Trump is now telling Canadian companies to move their factories to the United States “immediately” while declaring that he wants no Canadian cars, parts, or products, even though Canada remains one of America’s largest trading partners. As tariffs hammer deeply integrated supply chains, senior Trump officials are mocking Canadian leaders, submarines, and even youth cadets while Canada’s prime minister publicly tells Washington to “stop doing memes” and start acting seriously. The insults may play well online, but businesses on both sides of the border are left dealing with higher costs, uncertainty, and a relationship deteriorating in real time.
